Here’s a run down of some of the planning applications that have recently been submitted to Hull City Council, which include a new care home for young people.

Proposed care home

The council has received a planning application that proposes turning a property on Holderness Road into a care home for up to four young people between the ages of 14 to 18. The two-storey, end of terrace property is currently a six bedroom HMO with a garden to the rear. Planning documents submitted to the council suggest that if the application is approved, there would be two members of staff present on the site on a rotation basis. Documents state that the staff members “will have control over the movements on and off the premises and the young people will reside in a controlled manner.”

Changes to listed school building

The council also has received an application for alterations to Newland School for Girls. A Listed Building Consent application has been launched for the conversion of an existing office space into a new toilets and shower room. The application proposes the installation of a toilet, sink, and shower cubicle inside the existing office space that within the isolation area in the school. Due to the listed nature of the building, the planning documents submitted to the council explain that the small number of exterior alterations that are required will be done in a way that preserve the building’s appearance.
