They didn’t even play on Friday night, but Hull KR were arguably the biggest winners of all in an interesting night of Super League action.

The Robins head into the weekend still four points clear at the top of Super League after Wigan Warriors’ shock defeat to Wakefield Trinity, with Matt Peet’s side going down 16-10.

Having secured the Challenge Cup, Rovers’ next target is the League Leaders’ Shield and with a four-point cushion now opened up, the Robins are now in the driving seat to secure a domestic double.

But beyond that, third-placed Leeds Rhinos also lost, and their defeat to St Helens means Rovers have an eight-point lead over Brad Arthur’s side. Ensuring a top two finish is significant as it ensures a bye in the play-offs and a home tie in the semi-finals.

With an eight-point advantage and a superior points difference of 259, Rovers now appeared all but nailed on to finish in the top two.
