‘Hull Through The Decades’ film will be shown again as anniversary is marked

Hull Civic Society is holding another nostalgic film screening, offering a fascinating glimpse into life in the city over the past six decades. The society hosted a Hull Through The Decades film launch earlier in November about the life and times of Hull and East Yorkshire down the years.

On Saturday, November 29, from 10am to 4pm, an exhibition will be held in the Carnegie Heritage Centre, in Anlaby Road, Hull, when there will be another showing of the nostalgic film. There will be many stalls, picture galleries and more that will offer insight into a long-gone era of Hull.

The exhibition will commemorate the 60th anniversary of the closure of the Beverley to Market Weighton and York railway line, which occurred on November 30, 1965. Ian Wolstencroft, of Hull Civic Society, said Hull Through The Decades would be shown as part of the exhibition.

The event will raise funds for cancer charities and Hull’s Dove House Hospice. Ian said: “Hull Through The Decades will bring a lot of memories to many people in Hull, especially the over-50s.

“It is a fascinating look at how Hull has changed over the last 65 years.” At the event, details will be available on how to obtain copies of the film, either on DVD or on memory stick.
