A sprawling Amazon warehouse called DSA2 has recently opened about seven miles outside of Hull. It is the newest Amazon fulfilment centre in the UK and operates with the latest robotics technology.
Ahead of Black Friday, Hull Daily Mail was invited on a tour of the new warehouse in North Ferriby with general manager, Dave Benfell. He said it was a £550 million investment into the area and had created up to 2,000 jobs locally.
On the robotics floor, “millions” of products are kept in storage, waiting for a customer to complete an order. Robots move the items around the factory floor in “pods”, and in other parts of the warehouse there is a maze of conveyor belts carrying parcels heading for shipping.
