The restaurant has also been extended and refurbished
A garden centre in the East Riding will soon be welcoming customers back to its “bigger, better” restaurant. Gardener’s Retreat restaurant at Langlands Garden Centre will be reopening in mid-December.
Situated just outside the village of Shiptonthorpe near Market Weighton, the restaurant will now serve a traditional carvery daily, alongside the full menu. The new design features a “fresh, modern style”, according to bosses.
Guests can enjoy everything from cooked breakfasts and light lunches to home-baked cakes and hearty carvery meals. Everything is prepared by the Langlands kitchen team.
The restaurant will also offer a larger space with increased seating capacity, creating an additional 175 covers, bringing capacity to 300 and providing a more comfortable and spacious dining experience for visitors.
Around 20 new jobs are being created in cooking, serving, and customer service roles. This expansion means more room for families, friends, and visitors exploring the beautiful Yorkshire countryside and nearby towns and cities, including Beverley, York, Malton, Hull, and Goole.
Ricky Towers, Group Restaurant Director for British Garden Centres, said: “We’re proud to open our bigger, better restaurant with a new carvery to offer a wider choice and more space for everyone. Whether you’re coming from the local towns or out in the country, we want Langlands to be your go-to spot for food and relaxation.”
Langlands Garden Centre’s extended Gardener’s Retreat restaurant will open from December 10. This will be just in time for the festive season, with Christmas gifts, decorations, and gardening essentials all for sale.
British Garden Centres (BGC) is the UK’s largest family-owned garden centre group, with 73 centres around the country. It was launched in 1990 with the opening of Woodthorpe Garden Centre by brothers Charles and Robert Stubbs.
Today, the group is still owned and led by the Stubbs family, who also own and operate Woodthorpe Leisure Park in Lincolnshire. Since 2018, it has expanded rapidly with the acquisition of 50 garden centres.
The group has a team of 3,000 colleagues working across garden centres, restaurants, growing nurseries, distribution centres, Woodthorpe Leisure Park, and Woody’s Restaurant & Bar.
