Plans to relocate a police station will be reviewed after the majority of residents objected to the idea.
The Humberside police and crime commissioner (PCC), Jonathan Evison, proposed to move Beverley’s police station on New Walk to a dedicated office in County Hall.
Out of 634 responses from a public consultation, 60% of residents rejected the move and raised concerns about accessibility, parking, and response times.
Mr Evison said: “I remain committed to listening to residents and will consider these findings carefully in future planning.”
Mr Evison originally said the move would benefit the force’s work with partners at the council and NHS, who are also located at the site.
The public consultation found residents were concerned County Hall would be harder to access and increase traffic congestion, the PCC said.
The feedback also indicated residents wanted clearer information on the benefits of the proposed move.
Mr Evison added: “Policing will continue as usual for the time being operating from the current location until further solutions are brought for consideration.”
