Santa said ‘Hull is one of my favourite stops on the sleigh ride each year’
The Santa Claus Showtime is returning to Trinity Market for 2025. It will bring families together for free festive fun every Saturday in the run up to Christmas.
The much-loved event has become a highlight of the city centre’s festive calendar over the last two years. Hull City Council said it’s all about making Christmas magic accessible for everyone.
The free performances will run each Saturday at 11am, 12pm, 2pm and 3pm, packed full of songs, dancing, laughter and a special market trail. Although the event is free, tickets must be booked in advance, which can be done here.
Highlights include Santa singing (and even rapping) Christmas classics and cheeky festive rhymes. People will also have the chance to meet Santa’s elves and take a picture with them.
There will be a festive trail in which you can follow clues around the market and claim a sweet treat reward. You can also expect surprise roaming performers and musicians popping up throughout the market.
Santa himself said he can’t wait to be back in Hull. He said: “Ho ho ho! Hull is one of my very favourite stops on the sleigh ride each year.
“I just love singing, rapping and laughing with the children – and their grown-ups too! Trinity Market is always bursting with warmth and excitement, and it makes the whole experience truly magical. The welcome I get from Hull families is so big and so bright, it lights up Christmas for me – and I can’t wait to see everyone again this year.”
Cllr Rob Pritchard, portfolio holder for culture and leisure, Hull City Council, added: “Christmas should be a time when families can come together, celebrate and make memories – and it’s so important that we provide free events like The Santa Claus Showtime to make sure that’s possible for everyone. Trinity Market has become a real hub of festive community spirit, and this show is now a much-loved part of Hull’s Christmas tradition.”
Just around the corner in in Hepworth’s Arcade, the Grinch Grotto will take place. Organisers said: “The Grinch Grotto is set to arrive, bringing a whimsical and mischievous Christmas spirit to Hepworth’s Arcade.
“Ideal for families, children, and anyone who secretly enjoys a touch of Grinch-y mischief, this exciting new addition to Hepworth’s Arcade holds laughter, smiles, and some festive memorable photo opportunities a gift can be added whether you find yourself on the naughty or nice list.”
Grinch Grotto will take place on Saturday November 22, Saturday November 29, Saturday December 6, Saturday December 20, Monday December 22 and Tuesday December 23. This even is a paid experience and tickets need to be purchased in advance which you can do here.
