A vigil is being held as part of an international campaign to end violence against women and girls.
The event on 25 November in Beverley will mark 16 days of activism by charity White Ribbon UK, which works with men and boys to challenge harmful attitudes and behaviour.
People will gather at Wednesday Market at 18:00 GMT for a walk of solidarity to Toll Gavel United Church, in time for the Vigil at 18:30.
Councillor Lyn Healing, East Riding cabinet member for communities and public protection said: “We all have a role to play in ending violence against women and girls.”
East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Domestic Violence and Abuse Partnership service will be at the event to provide information, resources and support. There will also be speakers and song.
According to to the National Audit Office more than one in four women will be a victim of sexual assault or attempted assault in their lifetimes.
Healing added: “This event is an important opportunity to show our support and commitment to this cause, and we encourage residents to attend and pledge their support by signing up to the White Ribbon campaign”.
The vigil has been organised by Women’s Institute Beverley and Beverley Town Council, with the support of East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
