The Tigers’ season has been heavily impacted by injuries as they continue to lose key players at an alarming rate

Hull City’s terrific start to the new Championship season continues to be undermined by injuries to a host of key players, with Sergej Jakirovic still unable to name his strongest squad.

City are losing players almost on a weekly basis just at the moment, and while the past week has been superb for the Tigers in taking seven points from a possible nine, they’ve seen Oli McBurnie, Matt Crooks and Liam Millar all collect major problems.

Millar had only recently returned from his 11-month absence and starred on Tuesday night as City beat Leicester City, but after playing 100-plus minutes, he damaged a hamstring shortly after coming off the bench late on in the draw with Charlton Athletic on Saturday.

As attention now turns to Saturday’s trip to Norwich City, Hull Live takes a look at the state of play in the treatment room…

John Lundstram

Injury: Calf

Expected return date: Potentially before the international break.

Mohamed Belloumi

Injury: Hamstring

Expected return date: Like Lundstram, the Algerian winger could return before the November international break.

Matt Crooks

Injury: Chest

Expected return date: Awaiting results of Monday’s scan to determine whether or not he requires surgery. It’s hoped he can play in the three games before the international break.

Liam Millar

Injury: Hamstring

Expected return date: The Canadian was scheduled to have a scan on Monday afternoon to find out the severity of the injury picked up shortly after coming on against Charlton Athletic.

David Akintola

Injury: Back

Expected return date: Expected to be in the squad at Norwich City on Saturday, having complained of the issue in the warm-up prior to last Tuesday’s win over Leicester City.

Akin Famewo

Injury: Hamstring

Expected return date: The issue arose before Saturday’s game, and it’s hoped, like Akintola, his slight injury will recover in time to be involved at Carrow Road.

Oli McBurnie

Injury: Calf

Expected return date: City continue to take it one game at a time, but it’s hoped he can feature before the international break, though at this stage, it remains unclear if that will be the case.

Eliot Matazo

Injury: ACL – knee

Expected return date: Around Christmastime.

Kasey Palmer

Injury: MCL – knee

Expected return date: Towards the end of the year, possibly early into the New Year.
