The Tigers have picked up another couple of troublesome injuries
Kasey Palmer has become the latest Hull City player to succumb to an injury which could rule him out until the New Year, in what will come as a blow to the Jamaican.
Palmer returned from international duty at the end of the week, and it’s emerged that the 28-year-old has suffered a knee ligament injury, which may see him sidelined for the next eight to 10 weeks.
The news will come as a hammer blow to Palmer, who had hoped to get back into the City squad at Birmingham City on Saturday after being left out in dramatic fashion against Sheffield United before the international break.
Boss Sergej Jakirovic says it’s not yet clear if the former Chelsea youngster will require surgery or not, but the hope is that he won’t and therefore will be back sooner than if he did go under the knife.
Palmer joins John Lundstram and Mohamed Belloumi in being absent from action, as well as longer-term absentee Eliot Matazo, though he’s nearing a return to the first team fold.
“Kasey Palmer came back from the international break, and he got one kick in the knee,” the Croatian told Hull Live. “We did a medical check on Friday evening, and he will be out for eight to 10 weeks with an MCL (medial collateral ligament) injury. Yes, it’s a big problem. Maybe he needs surgery, and we will see about that, so it’s a big problem for us.
“No, I didn’t see him, so I’m waiting for him, but everything is OK, there is no problem,” he added when asked if he’d had the planned talks with Palmer.

Elsewhere, City will hope influential skipper Lewie Coyle is available for Tuesday night’s MKM Stadium showdown with Leicester City after he limped out of the win at St Andrew’s.
Coyle took a kick to his ankle in the first half, and despite having treatment at the interval, was forced off early in the second half with ex-Blues ace Cody Drameh coming on in his place.
“He got one kick in the ankle,” Jakirovic said of Coyle’s issue. “In the dressing room at half-time, he was in doubt, but he wanted to try, so after five minutes or even less, I think he felt it, and Cody came in. We’ll see about Tuesday; we don’t know right now.”
