Drivers are being urged to avoid the westbound A63 in the Hessle area due to a “vehicle fire”. Emergency services have been called to a section of the carriageway near the Humber Bridge.

Humberside Police say delays are likely while they respond to the incident. In a statement, the force said: “Please be aware that we are in attendance to a vehicle on fire on the westbound carriageway of the A63, just under the Humber Bridge. There are likely to be delays caused due to this, so please avoid the area where possible and find an alternative route until this is resolved. Thank you.”

Drivers near the scene have reported traffic to be “at a standstill” at around 8.45am.
