Hull KR skipper tells all you need on team-mates ahead of Grand Final showdown!
Captain Elliot Minchella sat down with Hull Live to describe his Hull KR team-mates ahead of Saturday’s Grand Final with Wigan Warriors.
Arthur Mourgue – He’s very brave, and an outstanding goal-kicker.
Tom Davies – He’s the joker who lost his voice under pressure during presentation night – he’s the funniest guy in the changing rooms, but he froze on stage when he won the players’ player award!
Peta Hiku – He’s a great leader. A silky player, well-respected and loves some ice cream.
Oliver Gildart – Him and ‘Budgie’ [Joe Burgess], we call them the ‘spice boys’ – two Wiganers. He’s a classy centre.
Joe Burgess – He’s a character. He competes hard, finishes tries and is just a good bloke.
Mikey Lewis – Where do I start? The 2024 Man of Steel, he’s been unbelievable for the club. What he does – not many people can do it. He’s one of a kind.
Tyrone May – He’s his own guy, and a bit of a maverick. He’s very good at what he does, and is one of the most respected people at the club.
Sauaso Sue – The silent assassin. He works so hard, and doesn’t say much at all. Another highly respected person, and is as tough as they come.
Jez Litten – For me, he’s the most complete hooker in the competition. The sky’s the limit with him – but he’s as tight as they come!
Jared Waerea-Hargreaves – Legend. He’s a leader, he’s an icon, and he’s tough. It’s been a privilege to play with him.
Dean Hadley – He’s the foundation of the club. He’s the player that would be first on the team sheet if you asked any player.
James Batchelor – He’s hard working, and is stiff as anything. He needs some WD-40 for Christmas. Another tight Yorkshireman. But he’s very well respected.
Elliot Minchella – I can’t do that, get somebody else to do it!
Sam Luckley – He needs subtitles every time he speaks! He’s a leader of the middles, and speaks really well when we understand him. He’s everybody’s mate.
Jai Whitbread – He’s losing his hair badly! He works so hard. He’s a great person.
Rhyse Martin – Silky. He’s a nice guy, and as a player, he can do a bit of everything. He’s very skillful and has added a lot to us.
Jack Broadbent – He’s Mr Fix It. He plays anywhere, which is a credit to him. It’s underestimated how hard it is to play multiple positions. A fact – he has some sort of qualification in refereeing. He’s a rugby league nerd.
Michael McIlorum – A great legend of the game.
Kelepi Tanginoa – The nicest guy you’ll meet. How he is on the field is the opposite away from it.
