
‘No one should feel unsafe or threatened at work and criminal behaviour on our high streets will not be tolerated’
Police in Hull are “cracking down on shoplifting” with three “repeat offenders” recently handed prison sentences. It follows three separate incidents in the city between October 14 and 28.
Humberside Police Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant Andy Waller said: “I hope these sentences reassure residents and businesses we take all reports of shop theft seriously and will continue to put offenders before the courts where appropriate.
“We regularly take part in days of action as part of our wider efforts to combat shoplifting and continue to have high-visibility patrols in key offending areas. No one should feel unsafe or threatened at work and criminal behaviour on our high streets will not be tolerated.”
Those sentenced are:
- James Kemp, 46, of Highcourt, Hull, has been sentenced to 32 weeks in prison after he was convicted of six counts of theft from a shop.
- Carl Harrison, 37, of no fixed abode, has been sentenced to 24 weeks in prison and was handed a two-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CB) after pleading guilty to theft from a shop, assault by beating, possession of class A drugs, and possession of class C drugs.
- Brian Coulson, 41, of no fixed abode, has been sentenced to six weeks in prison after pleading guilty to robbery.
