City kick-off another three-game week with a long trek to Norfolk

Head coach Sergej Jakirovic must decide whether or not to revert to his more favoured system for Saturday’s trip to Norwich City as he looks to extend Hull City‘s unbeaten run to six games.

City head to Norwich looking for a fourth win in five games and will face a side that has lost all five of their home games so far, and their manager, Liam Manning, is under increasing pressure with the Canaries sitting second bottom of the Championship. Jakirovic opted to go with three central defenders and wing-backs, sacrificing wingers for a more pragmatic approach against a more direct Charlton Athletic outfit. That approach almost got City a fourth straight win in the Championship, but they were pegged back in stoppage time after falling asleep at a 91st-minute corner cheaply given away. City will go to Norfolk looking for a first win at Carrow Road since 2010 without Liam Millar and Mohamed Belloumi, but Joel Ndala and David Akintola are both pushing for returns on the flanks, against a side known for wanting to dominate the ball. Jakirovic could also opt to put Kyle Joseph back on the wing and hand a first start to Enis Destan through the middle in the continued absence of Oli McBurnie, who it’s hoped could return next week. The Tigers boss will be able to call upon Matt Crooks, despite an ongoing issue with his shoulder, which he picked up in the win over Leicester City last week, but the injury list continues to grow with the Croatian still unable to call upon John Lundstram, Akin Famewo, Kasey Palmer, Eliot Matazo, as well as Belloumi, Millar and McBurnie.

City’s predicted XI: Pandur, Giles, Hughes, Ajayi, Coyle, Amir, Slater, Joseph, Crooks, Gelhardt, Drameh.
