The Tigers have won just once this century at Carrow Road and will be aiming to end that wretched record on Saturday

Hull City will arrive at Carrow Road on Saturday looking to extend their unbeaten run to six games and increase the pressure on Norwich City boss Liam Manning.

And for Darko Gyabi, speculation around Manning’s future and Norwich’s dreadful start to the season carries little interest as City look to move into the top six.

Norwich have lost their last five games, and have lost all five at Carrow Road this season, with the Canaries second bottom of the Championship, but it’s a big opportunity for the Tigers to keep their momentum going at the start of another three-game week.

“That’s none of my business what happens with their manager,” Gyabi told Hull Live. “As a team, we’re improving and that’s what we need to focus on, step by step, game by game and in the training sessions and when the games come, making sure that we’re fully ready and focused on what we can do.”

Despite conceding in the 91st minute to draw 1-1 with Charlton Athletic, City moved onto 19 points from their 12 games and sit outside the top six on goal difference. Their impressive start contradicts what many pundits felt would be another season of struggle, and has impressed deadline day arrival Gyabi.

“Yeah, it’s been good, I think we’ve been really, really positive even when some of the results haven’t gone the way we want,” he continued. “We’ve kept going, kept pushing, and I think that we’re gelling together and continuing to improve.”

That draw against the Addicks, which ended City’s three-game winning run, was the final outing in a busy week, and having benefitted from a clear few days, the Tigers will then play three more before the November break, starting with the trip to Norfolk, followed by one at Derby County on Tuesday and then a home tie with Portsmouth.

Gyabi says the crammed schedule is nothing new, and it’s about being prepared for the slog that comes with a frantic 46-game Championship campaign, with players being clear in what’s expected of them to deliver a winning display this weekend.

“It’s normal,” the England youngster explained. “You already know that is coming, so you just try to prepare your mind; it’s obviously hard because of back-to-back games so quickly, but you always have to be mentally ready.

“That’s how the game works, especially in the Championship. You have a week where it’s so busy, and then you have another week where it’s free, and players can recover a bit more, get their legs back under them, but it’s the same mindset going into the week; train hard, prepare for the game on Saturday and then go from there. Make sure that everyone’s aware of their roles, and then, going into Saturday, ensure that we put in a performance.”
