The plans also include the extension of an East Riding car park

Proposals to use an area of land for the siting of 20 touring caravan pitches are among planning applications currently under consideration by East Riding Of Yorkshire Council. The land is currently used for agriculture.

The plans also include the extension of a Goole car park. Plans argue the car park needs more spaces for demand at weekends and in evenings.

Caravan pitches

An application to alter the change of use of an area of agricultural land to allow for the siting of 20 touring caravan pitches has been submitted to the council. The application also includes the creation of an associated shower block.

The site in question is at Highfield Farm on Southburn Road, west of Hutton. Plans explain the applicants already run a “successful glamping and rural tourism enterprise” on the farm and are now looking to diversity their services by offering touring caravan accommodation, for which plans say there is “increasing demand” in the area.

It is stated: “The shower block will be of steel frame construction with timber cladding, designed to complement the rural character of the area and the existing tourism facilities on site.” The design is also described as being “functional yet appropriate for its setting.”

Extension to Goole car park

The council has also received an application for the extension of a car park, south of the River Ouse, in Old Goole. The plans seek permission to extend the car park that serves South Park, which is, as plans state “the principal public open space serving the community of Old Goole.”

Plans add: “The existing car park is sufficiently sized for most visitors during the week but there is not enough parking for visitors participating in team sports, during the weekends and evenings.” For this reason, the application proposes extending the car park to accommodate for an additional 43 cars.

New garden centre café

Finally, East Riding Council has also received plans for the erection of a building to be used as a café at the Stag Garden Centre in Old Ellerby. Plans explain: “The café will accommodate approximately seats for 50 customers. Alongside the seated café area, the café will also have the required kitchen, store area and toilet facilities.”

Plans also say that the site already has a large car park with spare capacity, meaning adding additional spaces will not be necessary. The café would have the same opening times as the garden centre itself, 9am to 5pm.
