The Robins are two wins from Old Trafford, and have time to prepare.
Hull KR will use their ‘week off’ wisely, with Willie Peters outlining how the Robins intend to make the most of a rare week without a game.
After winning the League Leaders’ Shield, Rovers’ reward is not only silverware, but a chance to regroup and recover. After a 31-game season already, that is very much welcomed for the squad and the coaching staff.
Rovers will not have a week ‘off’, though. They will train in the week, albeit at full tilt, as part of a prolonged preparation for the semi-finals.
“Monday they’ll have a good session and then Thursday will be building because of not playing next week,” Peters explained.
“I want to take away the collisions. I want to take away the impact because that’s when you have a week off. But we still need to do enough so in two weeks we’ve built to that so they go out there, they’re feeling fresh, but they’re also ready for collisions as well.
“Less is not necessarily more, but obviously, you don’t want to cook them as well, you need to get the right balance and that’s what we’re aiming to do.”
Peters admitted the week off had come at a good time.
“I think it’s an advantage to have the week off. No doubt at this stage of the year. You know what? We need a week off. I think mentally, you know, you’ve got three or four games before you have a week off and I think some players are grateful for that.”
