Harvie Hill is gearing up for a long and successful stay at Hull FC.
Harvie Hill believes Hull FC is the ‘place to be’ in order to continue his development next season and has expressed why he’s impressed with one key element of the club.
The 22-year-old, as first reported by Hull Live back in March, has signed a four-year deal with Hull from the 2026 season, who fended off strong competition from rival Super League clubs to sign the player.
The Wigan junior, who has made over 50 senior career appearances since his 2022 debut for the Warriors, will link up with fellow new signing Sam Lisone, not to mention current front rowers Herman Ese’ese, Liam Knight, and Ligi Sao – and has insisted he’s not here to make up the numbers.
Standing over 6 feet tall and weighing over 100 kg, Hill, who hails from Cumbria, was Wigan’s Academy Player of the Year in 2021, and after loan spells with London Broncos and Toulouse Olympique in the Championship, has fought his way into Wigan’s all-conquering side.
He lined up in the 2024 World Club Challenge victory over Penrith Panthers last year and while he could yet win further silverware with Wigan this season, the player is already geared up towards what he hopes will be a long, successful stay in East Yorkshire.
Speaking on his upcoming move to Hull FC, Hill said: “I’m just really excited for the opportunity to join Hull FC in 2026. Hull have had a great year this season and I see a chance to not only continue my development next year but also help the club’s progression.
“Having spoken to the coaching staff at Hull, I feel like the club is the best spot for me to build on where I’m at right now. To better myself, Hull’s the place to be.
“There are some real standout middles in that Hull pack and I’m not just coming in to make up the numbers – I want to be able to add something.
“Watching a lot of the young local lads playing and thriving for Hull was one of the key factors behind my decision to sign for the club as well. There’s some real talent there and that doesn’t happen by accident. I’m impressed with the club’s attitude towards youth and I’m looking forward to helping push that forwards next year.”
Securing Hill earlier this season, Hull director of rugby Gareth Ellis believes the signing is a real ‘coup’ and ‘statement of intent’ from the club, who have also signed St Helens pair James Bell and Joe Batchelor, as well as Connor Bailey from York and Jake Arthur from NRL outfit Newcastle Knights. Joe Phillips, another young prop, has also signed.
“This is a real coup for us because Harvie is one of the most promising middles in the competition at the moment,” Ellis added. “What struck me was how enthusiastic Harvie was about joining Hull FC based on what he has seen from the club this year.
“He seemed genuinely excited about the future of this club on the back of the conversations we’ve had about how we want to keep progressing.
“As we all know, Wigan’s Academy is one of the best out there, so to be picking up one of their young forwards is a real statement of intent from Hull FC, especially where our pack is concerned, and I’m thrilled that Harvie will be a part of our journey in 2026 and onwards.”
