The café has been a popular venue with shoppers for a number of years
An M&S Café in East Yorkshire is set to close, leaving regular customers baffled. The “always really busy” venue has signs up giving the imminent date of the closure.
The notices were apparent this week at M&S Foodhall, Anlaby Retail Park. Posted near the doors to the café, the signs said: “This M&S Café is closing on 20 September.
“Thank you from M&S Café Anlaby to all our customers.” One regular customer voiced his dismay about the closure, saying he could not understand why it was happening.
He said: “It’s a shame. It’s always really busy.”
Another customer had seemingly heard whispers about the fate of the café. She said: “The rumours are true”, after sharing pictures of the signs with Hull Live.
Only two weeks ago, one patron posted a review saying: “Absolutely love the Anlaby M&S cafe. It’s our favourite mother and daughter go-to place.
“Staff are brilliant, they do give the best customer service in spite being a busy cafe. Their summer menu is absolute divine, including their drinks [that] are delicious.”
M&S also has cafés at its Foodhalls in Beverley and at Kingswood in Hull. Hull Live has approached M&S for a comment about the café closure at Anlaby.
