Joe Burgess will miss the final round of the regular Super League season, having not been named in Willie Peters’ 21-man squad to take on Warrington Wolves.

The 30-year-old winger, who has scored 21 tries in 23 appearances across all competitions this year, has missed the last fortnight due to injury.

He pulled out of the derby earlier this month during the captain’s run due to a tight calf, but was expected to return for the trip to Wakefield Trinity. However, the three-time England international missed the Round 26 tie, and is absent again this week.

Having made his long-awaited return from injury against Wakefield, centre Oliver Gildart is named again. He partnered Jack Broadbent at the DIY Kitchens Stadium, with the utility star replacing Burgess. Noah Booth also featured on the wing in the Hull derby victory at Sewell Group Craven Park, scoring a try in the 18-4 result. The rising winger has been included in this week’s extended squad.
