Swansea City boss Alan Sheehan bemoaned the amount of added time at the end of their contest with Hull City, which saw John Egan slam in a late, late leveller.

Referee David Webb added seven minutes on at the end of a contest which saw various stoppages and a flurry of substitutions, and it proved decisive when Egan volleyed in the back of the net after Regan Slater’s goalbound volley was blocked to see it finish 2-2.

The hosts led twice through Jan Vipotnik and then Ronald, cancelling out Oli McBurnie’s fine goal to level it up before the break against his former club.

Egan’s goal, though, was nothing more than City deserved after peppering the Swans’ goal in the second period, with Sheehan begrudingly accepting the Tigers deserved something.

“It’s very disappointing, the manner of the equaliser. Seven minutes was a long time to add on but ultimately we only played in patches today,” the Irishman said.

“I will not hide from that. First half was very comfortable. We were comfortable without doing a whole lot. But we conceded more chances than we have in the last four games – that’s not like us.

“Defensively, the longer the game went on we dropped, dropped, dropped. We tried to see out the game but we didn’t do that. We take the point, and there is loads to improve on. I think you would have to say a point was a fair result. I think we were not quite like ourselves; we allowed too many crosses into our box as a team.

“We work on a lot of different things and I still think as a team we are simmering if you want to say. We were really good in patches but I don’t think we did enough to blow them away which is the disappointing thing.

“At times, especially how we started, I thought we looked really good but then it became a bit passive, a bit of a slower game and we didn’t battle against that slow tempo. I think it’s just consistency. We have had a lot of change in the summer. I think it’s foundations and building and consistency.

“When you are ahead after nearly 97 minutes and you concede like that, it is just incredibly disappointing. We were not able to control as much of the second half as we would have liked, the game became a bit end-to-end and we got deeper and deeper.

“Ultimately, we are 2-1 up after 96 minutes – I don’t know where that time came from – but to concede in that manner is disappointing. The lads gave everything. We’ll debrief and see how we can get better.”
