A survey is currently running to get the public’s views
The Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner, Jonathan Evison, is seeking public views on plans to relocate Beverley Police Station. It is proposed to move the station from New Walk to a dedicated office in County Hall.
It comes as progress has already been made toward the eventual relocation of Bransholme Police Station. This will move from by North Point Shopping Centre in Goodhart Road to an annex of Bransholme Fire Station in Noddle Hill Way.
On the potential relocation of Beverley Police Station, Mr Evison said: “One of my key aims as Police and Crime Commissioner is to ensure visible neighbourhood policing accessible to all communities. As part of this, I am proposing to relocate Beverley Police Station from its current site on New Walk to County Hall in the centre of Beverley.
“I want to create somewhere that is more visible and accessible for local people to visit. The relocation will assist partnership working with the local council and NHS colleagues that have recently taken premises on site.”
Partnership working is taking place with local MPs and Councillors, as well as colleagues from Humberside Police. The public survey is available through My Community Alerts here, and takes less than five minutes to complete.
Mr Evison added: “I want to hear about what’s important to you, whether that be creating an easily accessible building, how you can get there by public transport, whether you want space to speak in private to the police, or if 24/7 access is your priority for example.”
Bransholme
Planning permission for the change of use of Bransholme Fire Station’s annex was granted earlier this year. Completion of the property’s purchase only occurred in the current financial year, which has led to an adjustment of capital spend by the police in 2025/26.
A spokesperson for the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Humberside (OPCC) said: “The completion of the purchase did not conclude until the first week in this financial year therefore the capital was not spent in 24/25.
“The associated capital on the development of the new property is currently being reviewed and a decision will be made to what extent we proceed on the development of the new station this financial year, and what will be picked up in subsequent years.” £500,000 was originally earmarked to be spent on the new station this year, but this has been adjusted to £700,000.
An OPCC decision record from May states purchase of the fire station annex was agreed at a value of £175,000. The existing Bransholme Police Station will eventually be disposed of, and is valued at “somewhere in the region of £400,000”.
