The Tigers will be looking to end a run of successive Championship defeats
Head coach Sergej Jakirovic will have decisions to make this weekend when he takes his Hull City outfit to South Wales, looking to end a run of successive Championship defeats.
The Tigers boss will effectively have four new players in his squad to take on Swansea City, with deadline day signings Darko Gyabi and Amir Hadziahmetovic available, while Akin Famewo and Enis Destan are both available after injury.
Famewo has missed the last two outings, and Destan has not yet been seen in Tigers colours, but that could change against the Swans.
Neither Semi Ajayi nor Matt Crooks have recovered to travel. It’s likely Kasey Palmer won’t be considered given he’s not expected back from international duty until Friday after two successful games with Jamaica.
Liam Millar is back in full training, but the game will come too soon after almost a year out of action, though it’s hoped his comeback could happen in the next couple of weeks.
One key decision for the City head coach comes at right back. Cody Drameh has been an ever-present in the early weeks of the season and has begun the campaign in fine form before a couple of below-par displays in defeats to Blackburn Rovers and Bristol City.
The return of club skipper Lewie Coyle, a regular under former managers, presents the Croatian with a conundrum. Does he keep faith with Drameh or bring back his club captain? There are other big selection decisions looming for Jakirovic when Millar and Belloumi are both at full fitness, and Crooks returns, but for now, the right-back berth feels the most fascinating one.
There could also be a change in midfield with Hadziahmetovic expected to come into a side that has shipped a flurry of goals in recent weeks, including four at Ashton Gate prior to the international break.
City’s predicted XI: Pandur, Giles, Hughes, Egan, Drameh, Lundstram, Hadziahmetovic, Ndala, Gelhardt, Akintola, McBurnie.
