The Festival Of Hope, which aims to raise awareness and support for suicide prevention, was officially launched yesterday with a Walk Of Hope. Led by Fitmums & Friends and organised by the Humber Wellbeing Hub, dozens joined the 8.3 mile route which started at East Park.

The walk marks the start of the first ever Festival of Hope – a bold, creative and compassionate response to self-harm and suicide, taking place across the Humber region in line with World Suicide Prevention Day. The Festival of Hope will see many people across Hull and the East Riding come together in aid of suicide prevention awareness.

There will be a range of activities taking place for residents which aim to reduce the stigma surrounding suicide and also offer a safe space for people to come together and talk. You can read the full schedule of events here.

A powerful finale at Humber Bridge Country Park on Monday, September 15, from 3pm until 8pm will feature live music and wellbeing stalls. At 4.30pm the Baton of Hope will arrive, supported by Humberside Fire and Rescue. A candlelit vigil will close the ceremony with the NHS choir singing.

If you or someone you know needs urgent mental health support, the Humber Wellbeing Hub has a list of crisis lines to call. Click here to see all of the contact details.
