It is a major boost for Hull City as they look to get their campaign back on track

Talented winger Liam Millar is expected to step up his recovery from injury next week. The Canadian international has not played for Hull City since damaging his anterior cruciate ligament last October against Burnley.

But the former Liverpool player has completed his rehabilitation and looks set to be given the green light to return to full training ahead of the Tigers trip to Swansea City after the two-week international break. While it is highly unlikely Millar will be involved against the Swansea following a lengthy spell on the sidelines, it is a major boost to City as they look to get their campaign back on track following successive league defeats to Blackburn Rovers and Bristol City.

Millar’s surgery and rehab work has all been done in the UK. Speaking in an interview with Hull Live back in July, Millar said: “The reason why I stayed here (at Cottingham) and did all my rehab here was because I wanted to be with the lads. I wanted to support as much as I can and do as much as I possibly can from the outside.

“When you’re coming in and no one’s there, it’s a little bit boring and whatnot, but I know at the end of the day that I’m coming in to do my rehab to make sure that I’m ready to help the lads when I come back playing. At the end of the day, it’s more about the long-term goal than the short-term vision.”

City are 17th in the Championship after accruing four points from their opening four matches.
