It is business as usual for the BBC Look North host, however
He has had messages posted and been serenaded by a weather presenter. BBC Look North’s Peter Levy is 70 years old today and seemingly taking it all in his stride.
It has been business as usual for the popular broadcaster, hosting the lunchtime news programme and readying for the early evening show. But his milestone birthday has not gone unnoticed by his followers.
On X, PCSO Darren Bainton, of the Mid Holderness Neighbourhood Police Team, said: “Double celebration: Happy 70th Birthday & colossal congratulations on 50 years broadcasting Mr Levy @peter_levy a treasure chest of experiences, memories, and a trusted champion. Thank you for your services to the community.”
Radio and TV presenter Greg Scott posted: “A HUGE happy birthday to the outstanding @Peter_Levy, who hits 70 today. And whilst it’s fabulous to see him still going strong hosting Look North, it’s still a massive mystery as to why this man hasn’t done far far more on network television. He’s a literal living legend.”
Jessica Rickson, a programme producer for BBC Radio 2 said: “Happy BIG birthday & Happy 50 years in broadcasting to @BBCLookNorth LEGEND @peter_levy Simply the loveliest man I once had a night out in Hull with him and the @RadioHumberside gang He was clocked and hyped so much by local fans it was like hanging out with @Beyonce.”
Hull actor and singer Asa Elliott sent Peter a message too. He said: “Happy 70th birthday to the King of Hull @peter_levy A national treasure and my most famous friend.”
BBC Look North weatherman Paul Hudson, who is known for his banter with Peter, posted: “A very happy 70th birthday to my on-screen bestie !! @peter_levy have an amazing day!”
There were more goodwill messages including one from Driffield Male Voice Choir to their “esteemed president”; another calling him “a legend even south of the Humber” and one wishing him “a day full of laughter and love”.
Peter responded to his fans, thanking them for their good wishes and kindness. He posted: “Thank you for so many lovely birthday messages, I am so lucky and grateful. Thank you for your support for so long. Px”
He even had weather presenter Katerina Christodoulou – who cheekily calls Peter, Pete – bursting into song on the lunchtime bulletin. She ended her weather slot with “Happy Birthday to you”.
