Hull City could face a Swansea side boosted by three new additions when they return to Championship action after the international break.

While the Tigers were busy on deadline day, the Swans also added to their squad, with striker Adam Idah signing in a £6m deal from Scottish giants Celtic on the final day of business.

He joins loanees Ishe Samuels-Smith and Manuel Benson, who joined the South Wales clubs on temporary deals from Chelsea and Burnley respectively.

Swansea have made a positive start to the new season, recovering from an opening-day defeat to Middlesbrough to pick up two wins and a draw, and will be tough opponents for Sergej Jakirovic’s men at the Liberty Stadium.

Republic of Ireland striker Idah, 24, is perhaps the most eye-catching deal, with the price set to rise to £7m with add-ons, and manager Alan Sheehan was delighted to have brought him to the club.

“Adam’s all-round ability and his experience at the highest level make him a quality addition to our squad, and his signing is an indication of our ambitions for the club moving forward,” said Sheehan.

“He is an ambitious young player who wants to play a big role in what we are trying to build at Swansea, and his movement and ability to stretch defences will be a real asset to us.”

Samuels-Smith could also make his Swans debut against City, and can’t wait to get started.

“This is an important loan for me,” he said. “Football is a game where experience can affect you on loads of ways.

“I’ve been lucky to be at clubs with a lot of history and that demand a lot of young players. The expectations are there and it’s helped me get to where I am today, now it’s up to me to make the most of this opportunity.

“You know in football you are never going to just walk into the team, but obviously you have to fight and battle for a place because it makes the team stronger by doing that. I hope I can do that.”

Swansea had to wait until well after the deadline to confirm Benson’s arrival from Burnley, but the 28-year-old forward will now go straight into the squad for the first game after the international break.

“Manuel is a very exciting player who brings a lot of quality, energy and work-rate on and off the ball,” Sheehan added.

“He has Championship experience and has been a key performer at this level. We look forward to working with him and to Manuel making an impact in a Swansea shirt.”
