The Tigers remain keen to keep their goalkeeper amid interest
Championship outfit Hull City have three options on the table if goalkeeper Ivor Pandur leaves before Monday night’s 7pm transfer deadline.
Pandur is the subject of interest from City‘s Championship rivals, Middlesbrough and Leicester City, as well as German outfit Werder Bremen, but City hope to be able to keep the Croatian in what would be a major boost.
Despite reports emerging on Sunday about a potential swap deal with Seny Dieng, Hull Live understands that it is not under discussion.
If last season’s Player of the Year is to leave the MKM Stadium, one player the Tigers are considering is Besiktas goalkeeper Ersin Destanoglu.
The 24-year-old has played just once this season, with that coming in the UEFA Conference League qualifier first leg draw against Lausanne-Sport earlier this month.
That potential move is thought to be challenging for City, with Besiktas understood to be keen on a significant loan fee for the Istanbul-born stopper, which, of course, the Tigers cannot pay under the terms of their transfer restrictions.
“This is the reason why we need to be ready all the time, because you never know now until Monday who will go,” Jakirovic told Hull Live.
“You never know, so we have to be ready. For example, if Ivor will go somewhere – I don’t know where, he’s still with us – we need to have another goalkeeper. Everything is up in the air. He’s (Destanoglu) one option, but I don’t know if he will come to us if Ivor goes. I don’t know that.
“We have our plans, but not everything depends on us. It’s also the wish of the player, the wish of the agent. Like Abu, you cannot stop Abu (Kamara). He wanted to go, and we said OK.”
To further complicate matters, the Vodafone Park club have just appointed ex-boss Sergen Yalcin as their new manager after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked following their failure to make the group stages of the Conference League.
The Manchester United legend was given his marching orders after their second leg defeat at home to the Swiss outfit, which leaves the club without European football this term, having already lost in Europa League qualifying to Shakhtar.
City’s preference remains to keep Pandur at the MKM Stadium, but the financial situation at the club means his exit remains the more likely ahead of Charlie Hughes, if one were to leave.
