Police have released more information following the tragic death of a motorcyclist earlier this week. The fatal collision happened on Lelley Road at its junction with the B1240 Sproatley Road near Preston on Monday.

A Harley Davidson and Audi A5 were involved. The rider of the motorcycle, 68-year-old Stephen Coulson sadly died. The Audi driver was taken to hospital and arrested.

As part of the investigation, Humberside Police are now looking for another specific driver who they believe may be able to help them. A spokesperson said: “We received a call at approximately 12.20pm to reports that a grey Audi A5 had been travelling east along Lelley Road when it is believed to have been in collision with a Harley Davidson motorcycle at the junction of Sproatley Road.

“Emergency services attended the scene, however the rider of the motorcycle, who has been named as Stephen Coulson, 68-years-old, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist trained officers at this time.”

The driver of the Audi, a 22-year-old man was taken to hospital to receive treatment to minor injuries and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and possession of an offensive weapon. He has since been released under investigation.

The spokesperson continued: “Thank you to all witnesses who have come forward so far and following initial enquiries, officers would like to specifically speak to the driver of what is described as a light-coloured car which is believed to have been travelling on Sproately Road from Preston. It is thought that the driver may have been travelling behind the motorcycle at the time of the collision, is likely to have witnessed the incident, and may have information crucial to the ongoing investigation.

“Officers continue to appeal to anyone else who may have witnessed the collision, has any CCTV, dashcam footage or any information, no matter how small, which may assist in exploring new lines of enquiry to contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 215 of 25 August.”
