Essential carriageway resurfacing works have begun on Beverley Road. They are taking place on the northbound stretch between Evergreen Drive and the city boundary.

The intention of this scheme is to renew the carriageway, to ensure the highway provides a safe and even surface for traffic with adequate grip and skid resistance. The work is expected to be completed on Tuesday 9 September – weather permitting.

To mitigate impact, the works will be delivered in the following two phases:

  • Phase one: Tuesday 26 August until 8pm on Monday 8 September – lane closures on Beverley Road northbound. To facilitate traffic management, the give way lines on Downfield Avenue will be temporarily repositioned a few metres into the street and reinstated once the works are complete.
  • Phase two: From 8pm on Monday 8 September until 5am on Tuesday 9 September – Beverley Road northbound closed to traffic between Evergreen Drive and Downfield Avenue. A signed diversion route will be in place via Beverley Road, Sutton Road, Ennerdale, Thomas Clarkson Way and Raich Carter Way.

Pedestrian footways will remain open throughout the works, and emergency service access will be maintained at all times. Bin collections will continue as normal. However, scheduled bus services will not be able to serve Beverley Road northbound during the road closure. Notices will be placed at the affected bus stops.

The improvements are part of the council’s ongoing commitment to maintaining safe and high-quality road infrastructure across Hull. Councillor Mark Ieronimo, portfolio holder for transport and infrastructure, said: “Maintaining a safe and reliable road network is a key priority for us as a council.

“These essential works will improve the surface quality and safety of Beverley Road for all users. We understand that roadworks can be inconvenient, but we have done everything we can to mitigate the impact, such as carrying out the work under lane closures where possible.

“Thank you, in advance, to residents and motorists for their patience and understanding whilst we carry out these works.” The scheme is being carried out by PBS Construction Limited on behalf of the council.
