The climbing adventure company is raising funds for BBC Children In Need
The leaders of a popular leisure company are preparing to embark on a 600-mile charity cycle ride from Hull.
Rock Up has made its name in the city as one of the most exciting venues for family entertainment, with its indoor climbing arena and soft play areas designed to make climbing fun and accessible for everyone. Now the senior leadership team is ramping up the adrenalin factor by saddling up for the charity challenge of their lives in October, amid plans to raise vital funds for BBC Children in Need.
The team will set off from Rock Up at 9am on Sunday, October 6, starting with a big community send-off outside St Stephen’s Shopping Centre in Hull city centre. The six-day cycle ride will take the intrepid cyclists to Weston-super-Mare, stopping at every Rock Up climbing centre around the country along the way.
The team will cover more than 600 miles in all. They will ride 115 miles on day one, ending in Manchester, with day two’s 99-mile course winding its way to Birmingham. Day three will be the shortest trek, ending in Rushden, while the fourth day’s 111 miles will take in Rock Up centres in Watford and Lakeside.

Then, more than 200 miles will be covered on the final two days, visiting Walton, Whiteley and finally the finish line at Weston-super-Mare.
A spokesperson for the team said: “We believe every child deserves the chance to thrive, but many face challenges that make life tougher. Children in Need supports thousands of projects across the UK, helping young people facing poverty, mental health struggles, and disabilities. By taking on this epic challenge, we want to make a real difference and support the incredible work they do. Please donate and help us power through every mile – every pound raised goes directly to changing young lives.”
Organisers at Rock Up said the public is invited to come down on October, cheer the team on, and be part of the excitement as Hull waves them off in style. Families can enjoy music, entertainment, and Pudsey-themed fun, and local cyclists are welcome to join the team for the first stretch of the ride — whether that’s just round the corner, one mile or ten — to show their support.
Aaran Eade, director of Rock Up, said: “This is about bringing people and communities together for a brilliant cause. We’d love to see Hull turning out in force to give our riders the best possible send-off as they begin this epic journey for Children in Need.”
All funds raised will go directly to BBC Children in Need. Donations can be made on the day or via the official fundraising page.
