The Tigers are due to face Bristol City on Saturday afternoon
Bristol City have been handed a £7,500 fine and given an action plan regarding fan behaviour at Ashton Gate 48 hours before they host Hull City in the Championship.
The FA charge relates to last season’s Severnside derby at Ashton Gate with Cardiff City, when it was alleged the Robins had ‘failed to ensure its spectators and/or supporters conduct themselves in an orderly fashion’ during the contest.
That contest in October finished 1-1 but was marred by derogatory chants about Bluebirds owner Vincent Tan, it was alleged, and following a charge being levelled against the Robins in February, the Ashton Gate club have now been punished.
“Bristol City has been fined after an independent Regulatory Commission upheld a Football Association charge of failing to ensure our supporters conducted themselves in an orderly fashion in the match against Cardiff City in October 2024,” the Robins said in a statement.
“In addition, the club has been issued with an action plan to ensure such behaviour does not reoccur. This charge included using words with an express or implied reference to ethnic origin and/or colour and/or race in both halves of the game against Cardiff City.
“The club has accepted the Regulatory Commission’s decision and the £7,500 fine. We would like to remind supporters that, as an inclusive and family-orientated club, Bristol City abhors abusive chanting and have a zero-tolerance policy to discrimination of all kinds.
“Anyone identified committing such offences will be issued with a ban from Ashton Gate Stadium and be reported to the police, who may instigate prosecution resulting in a football-wide banning order.
“Anti-social behaviour or racist, homophobic, sexist or other abuse on matchdays can be reported to the Stadium Security Team by text on 07770 736 047 or to the nearest steward.
“The club would also like to remind supporters to use their allocated seats throughout the game to ensure everyone is safe at Ashton Gate. Standing in vomitories and stairwells is not permitted and abuse of stewards will not be tolerated.
“Failure to use your allocated seat when in the stands may result in ejection from the stadium, a stadium ban, being blocked from purchasing future match tickets or the suspension of Season Ticket benefits, including access to priority booking windows.
“The safety and well-being of everyone inside the stadium – supporters, players and staff – is of paramount importance, as is the need to safeguard the club against any potential fines or points deductions imposed for breaches of the regulations.”
