The proposed apartment block would consist of 18, 2-bedroom flats
A planning application has been submitted to Hull City Council for the erection of a three storey apartment block off Anlaby Road. The development seeks to transform a piece of land that planning document describe as being “a blank canvas for a new type of development.”
The application looks to develop an enclosed piece of land that is bordered by Anlaby Road to the north, Walliker Street to the west, Perry Street to the east, and Carnegie Street to the south. The site is currently vacant following the demolition of a motor repairs garage in 2024.
As well as being within walking distance from Hull city centre, the location of the proposed flats is just across the road from West Park and less than 400m from the MKM Stadium where both Hull City and Hull FC play their homes games. There is also a bus stop directly outside the site on Anlaby Road.
The proposed apartment block would consist of 18, 2-bedroom flats across three storeys. Despite each having 2 bedrooms, the flats would come in three different shapes/styles depending on where they are located in the building. Each of the three apartment types would be a similar size at around 70sqm.
Access to the property would come via Carnegie Street to the south of the site. The proposals include a 12 space car park, two of which would be disabled spaces.

Plans explain how every room in the apartments would be heated using modern techniques. Submitted documents state: “The scheme will use intelligent Infra Red Heating either hidden in the ceiling, which will free up wall space in the dwelling, or by way of a wall panels in each room or space.
“This means that each room will have its own programmable heating which can be controlled from anywhere via a mobile phone or laptop. It also means only the space or room being used can be heated, avoiding wasting energy heating the whole dwelling.”
The planning application does refer to increased security measures needed due to the proximity to the stadium. It is stated: “On match days and events, all the surrounding streets can exceptionally busy with traffic in and out of the stadium. The scheme’s car park will therefore need to be secure and tightly controlled.”
