A Hull GP has temporarily closed following a ‘flood’. In a text sent to patients, the team at the James Alexander Family Practice said the building is ‘currently unsafe’.

The team has warned that those with an appointment today at the Princes Avenue site may see their visit cancelled, but an update from the NHS says they are aiming to reschedule and re-arrange appointments. The practice will be posting updates to Facebook here.

The text sent to patients, as seen by Hull Daily Mail, says: “Unfortunately our Princes Medical Site has had a flood and we have had to close the building as it is unsafe. If you have an appointment today at Princes Medical Centre please ring the practice before coming to the site as it may be cancelled.

“We will be contacting patients throughout the day to advise you of any changes. Our phone lines may be busy so bear with us.

“We apologise for any inconvenience. Bransholme Health Centre patient appointments continue as planned, but may be busier than usual.”

A spokesperson for the NHS said: “The Princes Avenue general practice site of the James Alexander Family Practice in Hull has been temporarily closed with immediate effect due to a structural issue within the building. All patients who have an appointment scheduled over the next few days are being directly contacted by the practice to have this re-arranged either at an alternative practice site or alternative date.

“To minimise disruption, the telephone lines have been diverted to the practice’s Bransholme site. Anyone needing urgent help before their appointment should contact NHS 111.

“This decision has been made in the interests of patient and staff safety, and the practice is doing everything it can to ensure repairs are done as quickly as possible. The practice would like to thank everyone for their patience during this time.”
