People living in East Yorkshire have been invited to claim two free bags of compost in September.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s waste and recycling team said bags could be collected in Beverley, Preston, Goole, Hornsea, Pocklington, Withernsea, Driffield and Carnaby.
The compost was made from garden and food waste residents put in brown bins, the council said.
Councillor Paul West, cabinet member for environment and transport, said: “I’m always amazed at how popular our compost giveaways are every year. Our residents really love them.”
The council handed out 5,000 bags of compost during the last giveaway in May.
People can collect bags at the following locations:
- 13 September (10:00 BST) – East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s depot in Annie Reed Road, Beverley
- 15 September (16:00 BST) – Lelley Fields Crematorium, Preston
- 17 September (16:00 BST) – West Park, Goole
- 19 September (16:30 BST) – Hornsea Freeport
- 22 September (17:00 BST) – Wolds Gliding Club, Pocklington
- 24 September (16:00 BST) – Pavilion Car Park, Withernsea
- 26 September (16:00 BST) – Driffield Showground
- 27 September (10:00 BST) – East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Carnaby
Officials asked residents not to queue at the venues beforehand, or they may be turned away for safety reasons.
