Setting the scene
Sunday’s late, late show against Oxford United has lifted spirits right across the football club and the Tigers will be aiming for a little less drama this afternoon and a more straightforward home success in front of what will be an expectant crowd. Since City beat Oxford, the club have been made aware of the outcome of their appeal and attention is now firmly on matters on the pitch. Having that clarity is important, and at least the manager can move forward knowing where things stand.
Despite those restrictions, there’s a growing sense of excitement amoungst supporters about the squad the club have put together, and the style of footballl Sergej Jakirovic has implemented, and they’ll be keen to see more of that this afternoon.
For Rovers, they’ll arrive with their own issues. Two league defeats, an exit to Bradford City in the League Cup and fans unhappy with the club’s transfer business.
Make no mistake about it, Rovers will pose a big danger to the Tigers, but this is a real opportunity for City to build on Sunday’s performance and victory in their final home outing for almost a month.
