Work has been completed three weeks early
Traffic management measures on Hessle Road flyover are set to be removed this evening as investigations into the road have ended early. Hull City Council has confirmed that city-based engineering firm Mason Clark Associates has finished investigations to inform future investment, three weeks earlier than planned.
The work, which began in July, was expected to last until September 12 and comes as part of a five-year infrastructure investment programme. Experts were looking at the structural condition of the flyover to guide future strengthening and maintenance plans so that it remains safe.
Cllr Mark Ieronimo, portfolio holder for transport and infrastructure at Hull City Council, said: “We’re delighted that the works have been completed ahead of schedule, minimising disruption for road users and residents. This early completion reflects the professionalism and efficiency of Mason Clark Associates.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation whilst these investigations were carried out.”
The council says all traffic management measures will be removed on Friday evening, with normal access for vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians set to resume from Saturday morning.
Andy Thompson, director of bridges at Mason Clark Associates, added: “Our engineers worked diligently to complete the investigations safely and swiftly. As a Hull-based company, we’re proud to support Hull City Council in helping to keep this key route safe and reliable for years to come.”
