Some stars from the Danny Boyle film will be at the event this October
A spook-tacular Hull event is returning this October to send chills down your spine – and it’s suitable for all ages providing an enjoyable atmosphere with lots of creepy entertainment. Hull Horror Fest has been running for ten years, drawing in locals and visitors who flock in to see the horror-themed stalls, artists and authors just in time for Halloween.
Founded by comic con fan John Jackson, the family-friendly event has gone from strength to strength, with each year offering something different than before. One of the special guests for the October 2025 event is Chris Gregory, who starred in Danny Boyle’s post-apocalyptic horror movie 28 Years Later.
In a tense scene from the 2025 sequel to the 2002 classic 28 Days Later, Chris – who plays a Rage virus-infected Alpha – can be seen chasing lead characters Jamie and Spike. This year he’ll be popping into Hull’s Horror Fest.
Founder of the Horror Fest, John said: “Those attending the comic con really love the atmosphere and horror themed costumes that people wear. We get full families all dressed up as their favourite horror themed characters.
“Special features for this year are the three cast members from Danny Boyle’s 28 Years Later including the Alpha from the film. They will meet fans and take part in a Q&A session at the event.”
John announced on the Horror Fest Instagram: “Celi Crossland is coming to Hull Horror Fest. Celi starred in Danny Boyle’s 28 Years Later as the ‘pregnant infected’. Celi can be seen in the 2025 movie giving birth with the help of Jodie Comer.”
The third actor from 28 Years Later who will attend the Hull Horror Fest is ‘a rising star’ in the UK film industry, Sam Locke. Starring in the movie as Jimmy Fox, this character’s role will be continued in the 2026 movie 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple that is due to be released in January.
John added that the team ‘can’t wait’ to meet Chris, Celi and Sam and to hear all their stories. Advance tickets can be purchased here for the event at £10 per ticket. It will cost £12 on the door on the day to attend, but for under 16s it’s just £5 – and for kids under five the event is free.
The Horror Fest will return to the Costello Stadium, off Anlaby Park Road North, on Saturday, October 25 from 10am until 4pm. There will be more than 50 horror-themed stalls, along with artists, authors, a cosplay competition, photo ops, Q&As and much more to entertain you.
Hull’s Horror Fest has been running since 2015 although it did not go ahead during the Covid pandemic years. The fun event has become really popular with families and all ages – and this year could be busier than ever as the guest line-up is creating a lot of excitement on the Horror Fest social media pages.
