Despite being a rural road, traffic flow along this stretch of road can be busy at times so the improvement works will be important for the road’s future. There are several farms in the area as well as residences and holiday accommodation nearby.

Winter weather is one factor that can cause damage to local highway networks, including creating potholes. Local residents across the country have expressed concern in recent years in regards to an increase in potholes – and advance preparation work can help protect roads from damage for longer.

The essential works on Out Newton Road will include preparation for protecting the road against damage and potholes and the next phase of improvements for this road are anticipated for next year. These works will be carried out by the council’s own road maintenance team.
