Cody Drameh says it’s imperative Hull City learn from the disastrous 70 seconds that ruined their trip to North Wales on Tuesday night as the Tigers prepare to launch their MKM Stadium campaign.

City delivered a convincing display in the first round of the Carabao Cup to lead Wrexham 3-1 before a minute of madness in added time saw them concede twice from crosses onto the head of Ollie Palmer to draw 3-3.

That sent the game into a penalty shoot-out, which the Tigers then lost 5-3 after Joel Ndala’s effort cannoned off the woodwork and Jack Marriott converted the winning spot-kick.

Drameh hopes the harsh lesson of conceding two poor goals will give the dressing something of a kick up the backside as they get ready to take on Oxford United in front of a big home crowd on Sunday afternoon. City will be aiming to get an early home victory to back up the creditable opening day draw in Coventry.

“Absolutely, it’s there, but nothing’s handed to you in this league,” Drameh said of Oxford’s visit. “Anyone can beat anyone. We’ve got to go out there and grab it and take it.

“We’ve got to learn from this, get a few days of good training under us, and then we go. The fans will be upwards of 20,000 strong, with the support, it’s gonna be a great atmosphere and a great opportunity for us to hopefully get a positive result.”
