Racegoers have flocked to Beverley Ladies’ Day 2025 in their thousands, decked out in their finery but hoping to beat the heat, as well as the bookies.

The hottest date on the region’s social calendar was made even more so today (Wednesday, August 13), with temperatures set to soar into the low thirties Celsius at the Beverley Westwood course by the height of the meet. The lightest and brightest summery styles were to be seen in abundance, with some brimmed hats offering a touch of protection from the sun’s rays and shades being the accessory of the moment.

No one needed to worry about heels sinking into the mud today, after such a prolonged dry spell. Brollies could be cast aside (unless they were being used in place of parasols) today as happy guests strolled the various course enclosures, enjoying the socialising, the food and drink on offer, and a bit of a flutter on the horses.

Racegoers were queuing before the gates opened for Ladies’ Day, presented in conjunction with Porsche Centre Hull for a fourth consecutive year. From the more formal Premier Enclosure, sold out well ahead of the date, to the buzzing Grandstand & Paddock Enclosure and more relaxed Picnic Enclosure, Ladies’ Day has been Beverley’s most sought-after raceday fixture for more than 30 years.

People are drawn by the excitement of the racing, the entertainment and the hospitality at the town’s historic racecourse. One of the big attention-grabbers of the day is the hotly contested Most Stylish competition, a chance to win over the judges with the most glamorous of get-ups (and some special prizes riding on the outcome).

Hull Live’s photographer Donna Clifford has been out and about on the course capturing all the fun, and fashions, of the day.
