Colombian midfielder Gustavo Puerta played 31 times for Hull City last season
An unnamed La Liga club have tabled a €6m (£5.1m) bid for midfielder Gustavo Puerta. That is according to Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra, who has indicated Hull City are likely to reject the offer as they are holding out for more money for the player.
Sierra posted on social media platform X that City are looking to resolve Puerta’s future in the “coming days”. His outing at Swansea City on Good Friday triggered an obligation to buy him for £3m, but as it stands, that deal has not gone through under the terms of the transfer ban. City remain hopeful the deal will be approved by the English Football League, though that is another transfer dependant on the outcome of their appeal hearing.
As reported by Hull Live yesterday, the independent panel had not revealed the outcome of last Wednesday’s four-hour appeal hearing. It was expected the Tigers would be notified within 48 hours, but that timescale was moved to give the panel more time to consider the cases put forward by both sides.
Central midfield is an area City boss Sergej Jakirovic wants to strengthen before the transfer window closes on September 1. Manchester United youngster Toby Collyer is reportedly on their radar.
Puerta spent last season on loan at the MKM Stadium, making 31 appearances for the Championship club as they narrowly staved off the threat of relegation.
