The latest transfer news from around the MKM Stadium
Hull City are expecting to fend off interest in reigning Player of the Year Ivor Pandur in the remaining weeks of the transfer window with the goalkeeper attracting admiring glances.
Pandur scooped City’s top award after a consistent campaign last term and has been the subject of growing interest throughout the summer from across the continent.
City‘s Championship rivals Middlesbrough are the latest to register their interest, though Hull Live understands the Riverside Stadium club has not yet made a formal bid, and as it stands, the club and owner Acun Ilicali, in particular, has no decision to make.
The Tigers don’t want to sell the Croatian ace, who arrived from Fortuna Sittard in January 2024, while the 25-year-old has made it clear that he wants to remain at the club, having firmly established him as the number one.
In a bid to reward Pandur for his form in the past 12 months, the club are also considering offering him improved terms on the three-and-a-half-year contract that he signed last January.
Pandur isn’t the only Tigers player to be the subject of strong interest this summer, with the club already turning down two bids for defender Charlie Hughes from Coventry City, while Sheffield United are also monitoring the situation.
City are primed for a busy end to the month, with doubts surrounding a number of their players. While more new arrivals are expected, it’s unsurprising that head coach Sergej Jakirovic is keen to see the end of the transfer window so he can focus on the squad he’s got at his disposal: “I can’t wait until this transfer period is finished,” he told Hull Live. “First of September, 7pm, please come. It’s too long a period.”
