The adults-only event returns this month
An annual swinging festival is returning to HU9 Club in Hull. “Swingfest Festival” is a strictly 18+ event and will be held at the club’s premises in Witham, east Hull, on Sunday, August 24.
Live entertainment includes the acts Trilogy, Victoria Eastwood, and Andrew Good on the main stage. There will also be DJs, a barbecue, an adult bouncy castle, a 360 PhotoBooth, and a licensed bar.
Attitudes are changing towards the concept of swinging, according to HU9’s director. He said the scene is thriving in Hull, boosted by TV shows about the lifestyle.
Adam Smith, director of HU9 Club, said: “We have noticed a lot of younger people coming through the door and younger couples. It’s because of things on telly and the way swinging is being publicised now.”
The Channel 4 Documentary Open House: The Great Sex Experiment has particularly prompted “new younger clientele coming through the door”. He said the show encourages couples to “try new things”.
Adam said the societal stigma of swinging has changed “100 per cent” and now in 2025 people are a lot more open to experimentation. “People are being very different about it now and attitudes are changing,” he said.
He said the club has a safe, friendly atmosphere and everybody has their ID checked to make sure they are aged over 18. On the HU9 Club website, house rules include “no means no” and that the venue “does not guarantee you sex”.
Adam said: “The only people that come in, they must sign up to come up through the door. Everybody gets ID’d, everybody that comes in. It is a very safe day.”
The event starts at 2pm on Sunday, August 24. It continues until 4am on Bank Holiday Monday.
Tickets for Swingfest Festival are being sold on Skiddle. Princes are listed as £45 for couples, £45 for single males, and £25 for single females – plus booking fees.
