Setting the scene
So, here we are. Pre-season is over, and now the real stuff starts. Strap yourselves in because this will be quite a journey, as is so often the case with this football club.
It’s been another turbulent summer at the MKM Stadium, so to actually have proper football back to focus on will be a welcome relief for everyone, especially the manager.
And as Championship assignments go, there could scarcely be a tougher one to kick off the season with. Coventry are expected to be amongst the promotion-chasing pack once again, but City will fancy their chances having enjoyed a hugely positive pre-season despite all the off-field shenanigans.
Despite the transfer restrictions, the Tigers have been able to strengthen their squad with the likes of Oliver McBurnie, John Lundstram and Semi Ajayi, all solid and experienced Championship campaigners.
Jakirovic has impressed with his approach this summer, so it’ll be fascinating to see what happens from today onwards.
