An American YouTuber believes she’s uncovered the “UK’s best-kept secret” along the Lincolnshire coastline, where tourists can soak up “magnificent coastal views”. Cara, who runs The Magic Geekdom channel on YouTube, which boasts 77,000 subscribers and showcases various UK destinations, recently posted a video about her travels to a “charming seaside escape”.

Her video, entitled ‘I Found the UK’s Best Kept Secret… on the Lincolnshire coast?’, explores the seaside resort nestled on the Humber estuary in North East Lincolnshire, which she says combines a “blend of Victorian seaside charm” with “fantastic food”.

Located near Grimsby on the east coast of England, Cleethorpes started life as a fishing village in the 6th century. Over the years, it became a holiday resort, with its picturesque pier opening in 1873.

Cara remarked: “This hidden gem might not be as widely recognised as some of the other, more popular English seaside destinations, but don’t be mistaken.”

She added: “It has a wonderful blend of Victorian seaside charm, magnificent coastal views, and what I can tell you, without a doubt, because I’ve already experienced it, fantastic food. I think I just might have found the UK’s best-kept secret.”

Some of the local highlights include the iconic Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway, the Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre, and the Central Prom and Beach, complete with amusements, crazy golf, and bowling.

Cara and her two mates made the most of their visit to the town, which included a delightful meal at Maison de Muse where they savoured avocado on toast and coffee.

The trio went on to enjoy a leisurely pedal boat ride in a pond in a local park before heading to the train station, where they took note of its quaint pub and nearby crazy golf course.

After they enjoyed their train ride, the three pals tucked into a delicious cream tea at Darracotte’s, enjoying views of the beach (where there were donkeys) through the window.

This pleasant outing follows reports from back in February that crowned Cleethorpes as the UK’s most romantic town, with Tesco data revealing that locals purchase more premium bouquets throughout the year than any other place in Britain.

In fact, Cleethorpes even boasted 15 per cent more sales of luxury bouquets in 2024 compared to Gillingham, Kent, which ranked tenth in the list of towns buying the most top end floral arrangements.

Tesco’s flower buying manager Ryan Daley commented: “I’m sure the residents of Cleethorpes will be chuffed to hear that they are the UK’s great romantics, thanks to their impressive bouquet-buying generosity.”

He added: “What makes their new accolade even more impressive is that they have come top for buying their loved ones beautiful bouquets all year round – not just on Valentine’s Day.”
