Winter Woodland is set to return to Sewerby Hall and Gardens this Christmas. The hugely popular event will run from Friday, December 5, to Tuesday, December 23.

It will mark the fifth year of the magical outdoor experience. This year’s theme is ‘The Snowman’s Ball’ and is certain to be a hit with families and visitors alike.

From twinkling lights, festive scenes and fun interactions with characters including elves, the Woodcutter, Snow Fairy and Sewerby Snowman, there will be plenty to look forward to. Guests can even explore the grounds, taking a journey through candy cane lane, a giant bauble and a light tunnel.

And East Riding of Yorkshire Council has announced a brand new feature for 2025. Visitors this year can look forward to a whimsical snow globe in the Pleasure Gardens which can be accessed at an additional charge.

Food and drink will be availble from the Clock Tower cafe, Stables Pizza Company, Greek Treat and Peaky Grinders until 9pm. The courtyard marquee will house a licenced bar, from Louisianna Bars.

The Snowman: International Icon of Winter exhibition will be inside the Sewerby Hall House, which allows visitors to trace the snowman’s early appearance in the margins of medieval manuscripts to the snowman’s role in festivals and popular culture. There will also be a festive trail and activities around the house.

There are set arrival times to choose from each evening. These are 4.30pm – 5pm, 5pm – 5.30pm, 5.30pm – 6pm, 6pm – 6.30pm, 6.30pm – 6.50pm, and 6.45pm – 7pm.

There are a number of relaxed performances which will feature reduced volume, no lasers, no haze or smoke machines, and the characters in the woodland will be aware of sensory needs. These will be held on Thursday, December 11, and Thursday, December 18, during the 4:30 -5:00 pm arrival times.
