The latest transfer news from the MKM Stadium as City make another signing
Hull City have completed the signing of Trabzonspor forward Enis Destan on a permanent deal after he secured his exit from the Turkish Super Lig outfit.
Destan has joined the club on a free transfer and has signed a three-year contract at the MKM Stadium, with City understood to have agreed on a 50 per cent sell-on clause in the deal while there is the option of a further 12 months.
His arrival will boost Sergej Jakirovic’s options in the top half of the pitch, with Kyle Joseph the club’s only senior forward after Mason Burstow left to join Bolton Wanderers on loan earlier this week.
City still hope to clinch a deal for former Sheffield United striker Oli McBurnie, though that might have to wait until the Tigers know the outcome of their transfer ban appeal next week.
Last term, the forward endured an injury-hit campaign playing 18 times in the Super Lig without finding the back of the net, while he notched up six more appearances in the Europa and Conference League qualifiers.
In 51 Super Lig outings, Destan has scored nine times with six assists, so City will hope Jakirovic can find a way to get goals out of the frontman. Across his 135 senior appearances, Destan has netted 30 times with 10 assists.
Born in Izmir, the 23-year-old came through the ranks at Altınordu before joining Trabzonspor in 2022, but was sent out on loan to Warta Poznan later that year on a 12-month loan.
A regular with the Turkish Under-21 side, Destan was called up to the senior squad for a World Cup 2022 qualifier but was an unused substitute against Latvia.
Jakirovic believes Destan has big potential, though he says Trabzonspor doesn’t fully trust him. “He’s one player who has a big potential. I believe his club doesn’t trust him one hundred percent, so he just needs an opportunity to play,” the Bosnian said.
Destan is the fourth signing of a productive week at the MKM Stadium, following on from the arrivals of Akin Famewo, Joel Ndala, and his Trabzonspor teammate John Lundstram.
David Akintola is expected to follow with that deal to be confirmed pending the outcome of his visa application, which is expected on Monday.
