An annual charity cricket day in Goole raised thousands for good causes in East Yorkshire. The event, organised by Siemens Mobility, was taking place for a third year.
This year’s competition saw returns from Angel Trains, Knorr-Bremse Rail Systems Porterbrook and Rock Rail with newcomer 7 Futures. They battled it out against three Siemens Mobility teams.
A total of £24,000 was raised, which will now be shared between six local charities. The recipients are:
- The Friends of Oakhill, a volunteering group dedicated to maintaining and enhancing Oakhill Nature Reserve, which neighbours the Rail Village in Goole
- Two Rivers Community Pantry, a social supermarket and foodbank serving Goole and surrounding areas.
- West Park Green Team, which promotes the benefits of gardens and horticulture for health, wellbeing and the environment.
- A Shining Light (Howden), a school-based community charity operated by Howden Secondary School, raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
- Families in Goole, a community charity which offers free drop-in groups for families in Goole, offering advocacy and advice services as well as activities for children.
- Goole Boxing Club, a not-for-profit sports club which works to build discipline, confidence and life skills, helping to reduce antisocial behavior, and improve community well-being.
