Iconic musical, Mean Girls, is coming to Hull New Theatre next year.
Based on the classic teen comedy film, starring Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried and Rachel McAdams, the stage version from writer Tina Fey offers a fresh and fun retelling of the story.
Mean Girls had its first West End performance at the Savoy Theatre in 2024 where it was seen by more than 330,000 people. It took home the coveted ‘Best New Musical’ award at the 2025 WhatsOnStage Awards.
Directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw (Disney’s Aladdin, The Book of Mormon), the show has music by Jeff Richmond (30 Rock, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), lyrics by Nell Benjamin (Legally Blonde), and a book by the film’s screenwriter Tina Fey (30 Rock).
The description of the show reads: Meet The Plastics – Regina, Gretchen and Karen. They rule North Shore High and will burn anyone who gets in their way. Home-schooled Cady Heron may think she knows a thing or two about survival of the fittest thanks to her zoologist parents, but high school is a whole new level of savage. When Cady devises a plan to end Regina’s reign, she learns the hard way that you can’t cross a queen bee without getting stung.
Mean Girls comes to Hull New Theatre from May 25 – May 30 2026. Tickets go on sale from Friday, July 11, at 10am.
